Singapore - The almost overcrowded island and the lack of graciousness

Singapore as an island is really getting to be overcrowded. And overcrowded environment leads to angry people. I couldn't stand walking on the street this days on the weekends and even after working hours cos' you may ended up having this 'frowned lines' on your forehead every night that you have to smoothe it out with moisturer. I am not joking here. This ' frowned lines' came about when people pushed past you; abruptly stopped in the middle of the road; hitted you with their bags...Ouch!! How can you possibly have a 'good day'!!! And of cos' not to mention even maintaining your cool. I have seen people saying the foul language either muttering it under their breath or aloud. Worse; they show you some sort of 'sign languages'. Where is the graciousness that we are all been taught?

I used to think female here do take things for granted. They really expect that 'somebody' ( I open the door though) to open the door for them; let them through first. I mean I as a lady of course would want that as well. Who wouldn't? But where is the word of 'Thank you'? You open the door for them or even let them through a narrow passage first; they walked out without a smile or the simple 'Thank you'. But Hello!! I'm a lady too and I never do that cos' its really rude for the person who has showed courtesy for me.

Male this days even worse. My boyfriend who drive to work every day will have a few incidence to share. There was once when we were driving at the City area; this man was seen strolling (and I mean really strolling) to cross the road when cars are nearing him. He is this well-dressed man in shirt and pants. This is not one incidence; it has happened many times on the road. We even saw another man talking to his partner while crossing the road and cars have to slow down because of this. He did turned around; stare blankly at the cars and still continue talking and walking slowly. Ok; did he forget about road safety; is he not paying attention or just being inconsiderate to others?

So this island; being small; we see people everyday and everywhere. Just be gracious as you never know who you will cross path with.
